A Peep Into the Indian Entrance Exams

Entrance examinations are aimed to test the competency and level of preparedness of the candidates for jobs or for studies. As a student, you will find numerous entrance examinations at various levels of your progressive career after you have passed through the higher secondary exams. There are very few courses which exempt you from any exams of this sort. Thus, it becomes imperative for you to decide the field in which you aspire to carve out a promising career and once you have decided, it is time to start preparing for the particular entrance examinations.

You need to qualify these exams for studying in undergraduate, post graduate and doctoral levels in almost any field like engineering, medical, management, law, and others. For engineering field, one of the most coveted exams is JEE (Joint Entrance Exam) conducted by a specific IIT every year. Other equally important exams are AIEEE and state level exams in this sector. Once you qualify and hold a place in the merit list of these examination results then you will be entitled to take admission in a college dependent on your rank and off course your choice (if the rank permits). These exams need you to have passed the senior secondary exam conducted by central or state level boards.

You need to qualify the GATE exams for post graduation course and in case you wish to pursue these higher courses then you need to appear for GRE exams and qualify it. Similarly, for medical streams there are exams conducted by CBSE, state boards and prestigious medical institutes like AIIMS, CMC Vellore, PGI Chandigadh, JIPMER Pondicherry and others.

If you are inclined to pursuer management studies then you can get accommodated in several reputed management institutes through exams like CAT, XAT, MAT, CET Maharashtra, IRMA, IIFT, FMS and several others.

Again, for government jobs in diverse verticals you need to clear the entrance exams which are usually conducted by UPSC, State PSC’s, RRB, SSC and others. Banking jobs and other departmental jobs are usually carried out by the concerned agencies like banks, concerned institutions and PSUs (Publice sctor undertakings). So, you need to be well informed and a prior knowledge of do’s and dont’s will certainly help you in easing the preparation. Remember, all of the aforementioned exams are highly competitive and you must be at your preparation best to be successful.
