Cabinet nod for 10% quota in govt. work opportunities

The Cabinet has authorized a 10% reservation in govt work opportunities for the economically backward sections in the typical classification and who are not suitable for any other reservation.

The Kerala Point out and Subordinate Expert services Regulations will be amended to include the new reservation and it will occur into effect from the date of notification. The final decision was taken at a Cabinet meeting here on Wednesday.

The Centre experienced before made a decision to give 10% reservation in authorities jobs and for admission in the academic establishments for the economically weaker sections in the normal category centered on the 103rd Amendment of the Structure, an official communication from the Chief Minister’s Office said.

At current, 50% reservation is being furnished to the SC/ST and Backward communities. The 10% reservation declared on Wednesday was from the general class and would not influence the existing quota for SC/ST and Backward communities.
